Comments: Harry Potter

Your post makes perfect sense to me, because I feel exactly the same way. And now I know why, thanks to my fourteen year old, who told me that he thought the movie seemed to be mostly about rescuing Buckbeak. BINGO! What I love about this book (my favorite) it that Harry's greatest longing is fulfilled--he belongs to someone. This, to me, is what makes this book so wonderful, and what the movie didn't emphasize enough. You're right about all the good things in the film, but it just missed the mark, in my opinion.

By the way, the 13 year old girl in me was crushing way bad on Daniel Radcliffe. And I'm not (too) ashamed to admit it.

Love your blog.

Yeah, I missed the get-the-explanation-from-Dumbledore moment at the end that really explained some of the special things about what happened (like who made the map and why Harry's patronus was a stag...). There seemed to be some important points missing that would have given the movie more emotional power. The fourth book is my favorite, so I guess it'll be my turn to be disappointed next.

Ron, sigh....

No need to apologize, makes sense to me too. I've been holding off on commenting about how disappointed I was with the movie until you saw it so I'm glad you finally did! Really liked Oldman as Sirius and look forward to seeing him in future films. Dumbledore was the biggest disappointment for me though.
