Comments: Ripped Out Rosedale

Perhaps the gauge would have expanded with wet blocking to the desired measurements?

Oh dear. I'm so very, very sorry. But better to rip and reknit than finish a sweater you won't love, right?

Besides, the way the weather's going these days it'll be 90 degrees next weekend and NO ONE's going to get to wear their Rhinebeck sweaters. So there.

Yeah, join the club. I got sick and got suddenly overworked to stop me from what I thought was a sure thing for a new Ribby for Rhinebeck. Ah, well, No biggie. I might even just wear a sweatshirt.

Oh gosh.. you are going to Rhineback too!! Oh I feel faint! Everyone will be there but me and I even have a free place to stay for crying out loud!!! OI! well if you see some knuggles wandering around looking at yarn take them under your wing and direct them to some good stuff.. (they will be my parents and grandmother.. and probably my brother too!)

Ack. RIP Rosedale. But don't worry about what to wear. You have so many cute things, you don't need to have made it the day before.

Eek! And you were so close too... Mindy's right, though. It'll probably be too warm for sweaters anyway.

With the rainy weather, I'd not worry about wearing a beautiful handknit. We'll be in parkas!

Don't worry about having a new sweater for Rhinebeck, not everyone is crazy like the Harlot and can finish one in an freakishly short amount of time!

oh, that really sucks! i've done that before too, sometimes my gauge changes between the sample and the actual sweater, it's such an awful feeling...

God - that yarn and sweater are GORGEOUS. As frustrated as you must be, think of how it will be worth it when you have such an incredibly beautiful sweater that fits you perfectly.

Ripping out work was one of the hardest skills I had to learn as a knitter - first, making the decision to do so and second, actually ripping out without making the situation worse. Thankfully, I am now to the point that I don't have to think very hard about it and can just to the frogging straight away.

You do know that if/when you re-knit it, it's going to be even better, don't you? And I suspect that Mindy's right, so if you really feel compelled to knit something for Rhinebeck, you may want to knock out a knitted bikini or tank or something.

It looked great, the ripping must have been SO painful!

that's the saddest thing i've ever seen! :(

Wow it's beautiful.
How may skeins did it take?
Amazing . So amazing.

If it's any consolation, I'd knit practically an entire sweater for Rhinebeck as well. I decided to rip it in the car on the way there (I ran out of yarn and didn't have enough to finish the sleeves). Well I didn't actually rip it *in the car*, I just made the decision in the car. There's always next year. :)
