Update List

Watching:
Currently stealing snatches of Pre-Inauguration coverage in the office lunchroom. I can't wait for the speech. I have no words for today's excitement. Hoping for the best, wanting great things, happy he's calling for everyone to pitch in to help. Today is an amazing day: an incredibly hopeful day, but also the start of a lot of hard work on the part of the entire country.

Longterm Watching:
I just started rewatching Twin Peaks. It's a lot different this time watching it through. When I was in college, we'd have Twin Peaks parties and watch a couple episodes at a time (with pie) every weekend. But when you've got a whole bunch of college kids in a room (with pie), it's less about the tv and more about hanging out. I almost feel like I'm watching it for the first time now, you know, now that I'm actually paying attention to it. And for a girl obsessed with pie, I've oddly enough not made a pie for my Twin Peaks viewing pleasure. Yet.

Reading:
The Irregulars: Roald Dahl and the British Spy Ring in Wartime Washington
Did you know that Roald Dahl was a spy? I had no idea. I'm a huge fan, both of his children's books and his adult short stories, but this I never knew. Though the pace is sometimes slow, understandable in nonfiction, the content is fascinating and incredibly interesting.

Knitting:
Swatches, swatches, swatches. I'm at a slow point in my for-work knitting, so I'm swatching and sketching like mad. Design submissions aren't all that fun to do, but it gets me jobs for the rest of the year, so they're really important. Everyone I've worked for in the past, get ready for a deluge of designs. Also, feel free to let me know if you need something specific/in a hurry, because I can come up with designs pretty quickly. Ask Shannon Okey, I work well on a ridiculous deadline.

But what that means for you, kids, is that I have no new knitting to show you. Soon, I'll get back to bloggable knitting. I think I've been a lot better about it lately, though.

Exercise:
I may need to make the exercise a public thing and tell you how many situps/pushups I'm doing a day, because maybe that will shame me into actually doing something about it. Everyday I think to myself, I should be doing situps today. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday GCal is programmed to send me a text message at 8pm to "Exercise, dammit" and everytime I just hit delete and go on doing whatever it is I'm doing. Maybe if I think, "I have to tell the world what I did today, it better not be nothing," I'll actually do *something*. Because this is getting ridiculous.

Local Kids:
I want some group knitting. And I know you do, too. When's going to be good for you guys?

It Fits!

I made the blankie for a full-sized bed before I realized I was getting a larger bed. You know, it makes sense considering it's been almost 2 years in the making. I was a little apprehensive that it wasn't going to fit on the new queen-sized bed, though. So much so that I thought I should test it out. Look, it fits!

I don't want to give you the wrong idea though, it's not done yet. I do still have some seaming left to do, but it is a lot closer to being done than it had been. Just 1.5 horizontal seams left to do. And that's it!

I want to finish this up soon. In the long run, it has to be done before March because I can't have this project go on for more than 2 years. But really I want it done now because it's COLD! I have 2 blankets on my bed now and I'm still cold at night. This would be a great help, if I could ever sit down and finish it.

Soon. Really.
