Dramatic Panda - Hey!

"Sloth love Chunk"
Or This Panda I Made Looks... Wrong

panda!.jpg

So, I made this panda for Cassie's birthday. Or, I started it before her birthday (which was in November) and just finished it over the past couple days. Because I am a crap friend. But finished it I did.

He's cute... but looks kind of wrong. The sample shows his muzzle being above his eyes, but I think mine was just too off. He looks kinda weird. Like Sloth from the Goodies.

The pattern is from last summer's knit.1 and is by Ana Paula Rimoli. That woman makes some damn cute amigurumi. [rav link]

Also, you know you're sexually frustrated when you're crocheting panda legs and start getting creeped out. I felt like I was crocheting big, black penii. I'm glad they're sewn on now. They're less creepy on.

That said, his butt is my favorite part of him. Look at that cute little tail! Panda Butt!

Update, List, Jenn Gabs, Whatever You Want to Call It

1. I'm at home today waiting for a mattress delivery. You remember how I moved... awhile ago? I bought a new bed when I moved, but then didn't have enough money left over for a new mattress. So I've been sleeping on a Full-sized mattress on a Queen-sized platform for a few months. It actually makes a pretty good shelf on the edge of the platform, but my thin Full-sized mattress is starting to be really uncomfortable. Finally, there is a new mattress. Yeay! I'm really excited.

Apparently it comes packed tightly rolled and it will need 24-48 hours to decompress to it's appropriate size. Who knew? Since we don't exactly have a whole lot of free floor space, that probably means I'm going to be sleeping on the couch for a couple days. That'll be fun.

I went to Target last night to get new sheets. My current quilts and comforters are all Full/Queen, so I didn't need to get new ones, but I really wanted this. I managed to resist. I mean, I don't really *need* to spend $90 on a comforter, but it was very pretty and difficult to resist. Instead I just got some new brown sheets that will go with my current comforter and quilt and got the heck out of there.

2. Since I'm home, I figured I'd take some pictures of the hat I made a few weeks ago.

It's supposed to be a beret, but behold the power of gauge. I guess it's actually more of a loose skull cap. Add the fact that this Soft Kid doesn't have any recovery, and broken rib isn't known for drawing in and I've got a hat that just sits on the head. It's cute though. I wear it a lot. I love the lace patterning. I'll just have to make another one soon. You know, closer to gauge. [Rav link]

3. I forgot to mention, the photo I used for my nipper 2008 album cover was taken by Carolyn at Pitchfork last year. It was my absolute favorite picture of the year. Lady, you know I'm coming back again this year, right? Just so you can have that on your calendar. ;)

And for those of you who requested mix CDs, they're winging their way to you now.

4. Also, go check out her recap of her 365 photo project. Lady, it's fantastic. So good it tempts me to want to try it. Almost. But not quite. Seems like a lot of work and dedication. All my work and dedication points are used up in other ways, I believe. It seems like fun though.

5. I got some interesting comment spam the other day. "Talking with you is sort of the conversational equivalent of an out of body experience." It whacked me out a little bit. Normally it's all porn or drugs or random dummy copy. This... was just weird.

OK, I do have some work I need to do today. I guess.

Wow. This was the most rambling post I've written in a long time. Sorry if I was boring.
