Sort of completely random update on what's going on at the Nipper Ranch.
1. I want to make this sweater. Like the rest of the blog-o-sphere. It's just freaking gorgeous and will look (and feel) even more so in Malabrigo in this color.
2. I've also been wanting to make this sweater since Jodi announced it. And seeing Julia wearing it at Rhinebeck made want it even more. I'm thinking Charcoal and Red, but I've been on a big brown and green kick lately, so I may have to do that instead. I need to make the leap, decide and buy the yarn, but these decisions: they're the hardest part.
3. But, sadly, I need to work a little harder on my cranes before I can even consider making anything for myself. I moved in August and that threw off my entire crane schedule. Not having them hanging from the ceiling reminding me to get to work makes it hard to focus on them. But I've gotten back into them recently and I can totally make my Dec 31st deadline. I'll need to fold more than the 3 a day than I originally set myself, but 7 a day is perfectly reasonable. Especially if I can focus on them on the weekends. Current Crane Count: 799. Totally do-able to make it to 1,000 in a month.
Right?
4. Go check out the Winter issue of knit.1 to see the cutest baby in the world. Not only is he the cutest baby ever, but he's wearing a pretty damn cute sweater and sitting on a really awesome blanket made by me. [Ravelry]

5. The big Julia blanket is coming along nicely. When this picture was taken I had to decide whether I wanted to make 10, 18, or 24 more blocks depending on how much bigger I wanted the blanket. As it is, it's about the size as my full-size bed mattress. I've decided to make the full 24 more blocks (who am I kidding, of course that's what I would do, right?) Since then, I've made 9 more blocks and bought a bit more yarn to finish the blocks. I'll probably need to buy some more black yarn (and new eyeballs) for the mattress stitching of all those blocks together. This thing is coming along very quickly though!
6. I've been trying to get together a group to go out to Queens to eat at King Yum. I *need* some big drinks with umbrellas and flaming food! But this time of year is so hard for making plans. I think I may need to wait until the beginning of the year for my Mai Tai.
It's kinda all I can think about right now though.
7. I have a new phone. It's very pretty. I keep getting lost in Brooklyn, so I needed a phone with Google Maps capabilities. I'm kind of in love with it. It took me a little while to get used to the slidey-ness of it, but I'm definitely getting the hang of it. Well, I don't feel like I'm going to break it anymore, anyway.
8. The other night n. Waffle and I had the same dream that we were fired from our jobs because we didn't know the square root of 7. The square root of 7? Really? I mean, I do knitting math, but it doesn't involve square roots. And both of us dreaming about the square root of 7? Where did that come from?
So... uh... Yeah. That's the scoop. No promises of blogging more in the future, because you all know I have these grand plans and can't really live up to them. And I like you all too much to lie to you. It's just nice to get to talk at you for a bit. How are you, btw?
