I've never sweat so much in my entire life. I drank so much water I had to pee 10 times. I seriously thought that by the last 15 minutes I was going to die. Food has never tasted so good as that chicken, avocado, and orange salad I made after class. Ths morning my entire body is sore.
When can I go again?
I'm looking for something to do with my time. I've been feeling like I'm in a bit of a rut lately. I love my job and all that, but I seem to work all day and then just go home for the most part. I want some distraction. I want to start using my brain for something other than doing knitting math all day. Thus, I'm starting classes... A little something for my body and a little something for my brain.
Tonight I go to my first Bikram Yoga class. We'll see how that goes. It may be a little too intense for me. If so, then I'm going to try taking a regular, less intense yoga class. I need to be more active. I only walk to and from work. That's 2.5-3 miles a day, but it's not intense walking (except for the stupid staircase in my neighborhood). I'm feeling a little squishy lately and the late 20's are here. I have to start doing something active now, before my metabolism drops off.
For my brain, I'm looking into Japanese language courses at the Japan Society. It's been two years since I took a Japanese class, and just about 2 years since I spoke it at all. There are no open classes at the moment, but it looks like they're going to start summer classes soon, so hopefully I can get into one of those. I think I've lost most of my language skills and it upsets me. Plus, I still haven't quite decided where to go for my 30th birthday, but if it's Japan then I really need some practice. But even if I don't decide on Japan, I still need to pump up some brain muscles. Talk about squishy.
I'm home and I had a great vacation. I felt like I was gone for 2 weeks even though it was only 5 days. I saw a lot of my friends, but for the most part I just hung out on my parents' back porch with my dog and soaked up the sun and warmth. We're not going to have enough of that around these parts for the next couple weeks, so I wanted to get as much as I could while I could. And I'm not sure if you can tell in the pictures, but I'm not quite as pale as I was before I left. Still pale as compared to other people, but for me, a little bit of color! I also spent a good amount of time bombing around town in my mom's car with the sunroof open and the radio blaring. I haven't driven since November, so that was loads of fun.
I got a surprising amount done while I was down there. I read three books (one of which was The Liar by Stephen Fry, suggested to me by Michelle. You must read this book. It is too funny and full of Toast!), got a haircut (pictures below), finished my halter (likewise pictures below), and started a bear for a friend's dad (no pictures yet, half-formed toys look a little disturbing. But soon!). I had a lot of fun and came back a much happier, more relaxed, and nice-to-be-around girl. It feels good to be home though. I always forget just how comfy my bed is until I've gone and slept somewhere else for a couple nights. (Bad part about coming home after being away for so long was the *huge* list in my Bloglines: 392. Ouch.)
Haircut: Love it! I cut my own hair a couple months ago, you know, out of boredom. While I did a halfway decent job, there were a couple spots I chopped a little too much. I've been just growing it out since so I'll have enough hair to get a better cut from someone else. :) While my hair wasn't long enough for the exactly the cut I wanted, I think the lady did a great job. I seriously missed having bangs.

I also colored it the day before I flew down. I somehow managed to get it pretty streaky and cool-looking with the pinky-red over yellow, and it really looks good with the new cut. You can see the streaks much better with it short like this. I dig it a lot.
Voodoo Halter: This turned out better than I could have imagined for a project randomly started at the yarn store and designed on the fly. The color is amazing, and fabric is luscious. I wasn't sure about how the shaping was coming together at the sides, but seeing it in this picture, I'm really proud of it.

Before we took pictures, I told Michelle that we were going for "fucking hot", but she kept making me laugh. It's hard to be sexy when you can't stop giggling. And it's hard to stop giggling when someone's telling you, "You're smouldering, smouldering..." Silly girl. These pictures may not be "fucking hot", but you can tell we're having fun, and isn't that what's important? :)

Also very cool is that my co-worker, Kid Silk Haze, has started blogging again. Reminds me that one of my other co-workers needs to get off her butt and start hers soon (that's right, Very Miss Mary, I'm looking at you).
