Socks, Socks, Socks! and a bit of a hat.

Socks That Rock = Finished!

Do you remember the Orange Socks? I put them down to work on other projects months ago and never picked them back up. This is where I left them off...

That's right, 75% done. How sad. There's absolutely no reason not to finish these. So I picked them back up, knitted the 15 rows to finish the foot last night, knit the toe on the train going to work this morning, and tonight I'll Kitchener them up.

2 new pairs of socks in 3 days? Now that rocks.

And of course I have to give you an update on the pirate hat...

As a Matter of Fact, They Do Rock

Yeay! Almost done with the Socks that Rock! I just have a few more rows in the foot; then it's toe decreases, a little Kitchener Action, and voila: SOCKS THAT ROCK. I think it's really weird, though, how they don't match up. There are so many more stripes on the new sock than on the first ones. I'm knitting at the same gauge (as far as I can tell anyway) and it's the same skein. I pulled out enough yarn to kitchener the first one, cut, and then started the second sock immediately. Isn't that weird? Well, expect these socks soon, but not immediately, because a lot of my knitting time is being taken up by:

The Pirate Hat. Aaarrr! We've been a little pirate obsessed at work lately and there are three of us there making this crazy thing. But how could you not? This is one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time. I may also have to make the Gnomey Hat as well. Too fun. But really, it's all about the AARRRRR!

So, this is Project #3 in January: The Month of Me, but it is not Project #3 in 2006: The Year of the Stash. That's right, I've already bought yarn this year. But that's perfectly alright. I'm allowing myself to buy yarn and make non-stash items, as long as the year-end total of stash projects is greater than the year-end total of non-stash projects. There's this whole 2006: Year of the Stash post coming soon that will explain things, but only once I've photographed the entire stash and catalogued everything. It's a big job and there's really not enough natural light in the day.
