So, last night I did the Harry Potter Midnight Madness party with my little brother. It was sheer insanity. There must have been over 500 people there waiting (very impatiently) to get their books.
I finished reading it. I only have two things to say.
1. I have a new favorite. By far, a new favorite. Completely above and beyond, a new favorite.
2. ... OH MY FUCKING GOD.
That is all I can come up with at the moment. I might have to read it again right now.

I wanted to make little lacey ankle socks for my Sock Pal, but didn't know what kind of lace to do. So I went through my knit motif calendar and knitted little samples of all the lace that looked interesting. I picked the wavy pattern because I love the way Nipper Ripple turned out. It's not the same lace pattern as the Broad Ripple; I actually like this one better. It's called Foaming Waves. I hope my Sock Pal likes it.

Here's what I've got so far on sock 1. I'm using Morehouse Merino Lace weight yarn and size 1 needles. These socks are going to take forever! There are 96 stitches on a round on this sock. I love, love, love the way the yarn feels, though. So soft and lovely... I bought some of this for a pair of socks for the boy, but I'm thinking it's going to be too delicate for boy feet. I've decided to make him socks out of something different. Perhaps he needs some Lorna's Laces socks?
I want to get labels for my stuff, but I've been really unimpressed with the selection. Heirloom Labels has the best selection of plain labels, but I don't like any of their color combinations. Nothing really screams nipperknits (why can't you do pink on orange!?!) I would love to do the custom labels at Namemaker, but that requires a minimum order of 1,000. That's a little much for me. Plus, I would have to come up with a really great logo and my design sense just doesn't extend in that direction. So, the point of this is that I'm asking you to go to the Heirloom labels site and look through their Group 1 labels and pick out a design and colors for me. Something plain, but bright. Something fun and silly and nipper. I'll order the best one.
Also, since I changed my comments to on-approval-only posting, it doesn't send me email notification anymore. That really sucks. I love being able to respond to people's comments. :( But until I figure out how to get my email notification back, thank you for all the compliments on my projects. Love you all!

This is Teva Durham's Turtleneck Shrug from Scarf Style in Phildar Pegase +. I really like this design. It's so fun and silly. And in that vein, I had to do a Becky-esque dancing picture. What you don't see in this picture is me sweating like crazy in the Florida heat and almost passing out before I could get that thing off. It'll be nice for fall, but Florida in July? Not so much.

Here's Slippery Nipper in all its finally-finished glory. I know everyone liked the way it looked before, but doesn't it look better now? I just sewed the neckline about an inch on each side. This way it's still cute and wide and open, but it's not falling off my shoulders. I love this sweater so much. I think I might need another one.

Here's the skirt I made. I'm really impressed with the way it turned out. I've sewed a couple things in my time, but this is the first thing that I've been really happy with. Besides, what could beat those bees!?!

My little brother and I are going to the Harry Potter release party Friday night. I can't wait! I think I might have to wear my Weasley sweater despite the heat.
