Oh, no! I ran out of yarn 15 rows from the end of my shrug! What ever will I do?
Oh?! What is this? Why, it's a ball of Softy in the mail, just in time! The Boy sent me an extra ball of Softy when he read on here that I was going to run out. What a great boy I have. Yeay!
Happy Blog-i-versary, nipperknits! This blog has officially been blogging for one year. It's been a really great. I've learned a lot, played a lot, made many friends, and I hope to enjoy my next blog-stastic year just as much. Thanks, everyone for making this so much fun!
I turned the heel on the first of the Nipper Ripple socks. I'm really pleased with the way these are turning out. Go, Broad Ripple pattern, go! And the stripe pattern is so weird and cool. I think the stripes are totally random. I can't decide if I like that or not...
Here's the Softy Shrug so far. I forgot how heavy and drapy this yarn is and I think I might need to rip back into the first sleeve some. It was long before, but it just keeps growing. I am so in love with this thing though. I want to wear it now, now, now! It's so soft and yummy. I think I might have a new favorite.
I've been seeing the "how much music do you have on your computer" baton being passed around lately and knew it was only a matter of time before I got it. This is so difficult for me. What do you mean, 5 songs you like the best? Woo... Tough. Thanks, Mindy. It makes me feel loved that you would pick me. So let's get started.
1.) Total amount of music files on your computer:
7.13 GB, which is also 1795 songs or 4.6 days of music. And not all of my CD's have been ripped into the computer, either. Wow.
2.) The last CD you bought was:
Frank Black and the Catholics, Dog in the Sand. It's pretty good, I enjoy it.
3.) What is the last song you listened to before reading this message:
Christiansands by Tricky on the Pre-Millenium Tension album. I love that song.
4.) Write down 5 songs you listen to often or that mean a lot to you:
Ahhh... now for the hard part. When I get a question like this, I feel like the guy in High Fidelity. Can I make up lots of lists? As soon as I make up one list I'll want to make another. I could make a list just from They Might Be Giants songs. In fact, Mindy did 2 lists, so I'm going to do a TMBG list and an everything else list. Even that is difficult enough.
1. "New York City"
2. "She's Actual Size" (my theme song.)
3. "Don't Let's Start"
4. "Another First Kiss"
5. "She's an Angel"
1. "Birthday Cake" Cibo Matto
2. "One of the Three" James
3. "Killing Moon" Pavement
4. "American Dreaming" Dead Can Dance
5. "Fade Into You" Mazzy Star
Can I change my answers now, please?
5.) Who are you going to pass this stick to (3 persons) and why?
1. Jackie Blue: A fun girl who has a very cool, if very different taste in music as my own, I bet.
2. Pinku Kat: We share tastes in just about everything else, does the music match up?
3. Grandmother-In-Training: She was my Secret Pal last time and got me the most amazing stuff ever. Anyone who will buy Hindu God finger puppets and Enlighten-mints has got to have interesting taste in music!
Knitting-wise: The Softy/Mindy shrug is halfway done and I think I might have to buy another ball of yarn. Darn. It is so amazingly soft and warm, though, I already want to wear it all the time. It's kind of silly to walk around wearing one sleeve with a needle stuck in it, but I really don't care. I can't wait to wear this thing!
And the Sockapalooza Socks are done! I still need to sew in ends, but I have a month and a half to do that before I need to ship these out. It's nice to get things done early. ;)
I decided what to do about my Softy. I read Mindy's blog and realized her shrug/sleeves were the perfect idea for the yarn. I'm pretty sure I can do it in 3 balls, but I'm a little worried. I don't have a small enough circular 15 needle, so I'm using a 16" 13 needle. Hopefully I don't run out of yarn before time. Mindy used 1 1/4 skeins ofArtful Yarn's Portrait, each ball has 164 yds. I have 3 balls of Softy which has 104 yds a ball. Should be enough even if I'm knitting a little tighter, right? Thanks for the pattern, Mindy!
