Manos Para Calentar al Cuello del Nin~ito Mientras la Nipper Este Demasiado Lejos.
(Manos to warm the little boy's neck while the Nipper is too far away)
Cari is responsible for this extremely beautiful and apt title for the boy's scarf. Chris and I both thank you. The name is perfect.

The scarf, however, is driving me insane. I finished it two days ago and had the boy try it on. Nice length, good weight, very pretty, except... the stupid scarf curls up around the cable. I put 4 stitches of reverse stockinette stitch around the cable so that it would show more clearly. I'm now finding out perhaps that wasn't the best idea ever. It just makes the scarf want to curl in on itself. Well... Mr. Boy Scarf is currently in blocking time out. I didn't want to have to block this thing, but it has left me no choice. So, I washed it yesterday morning, pinned it down flat, let it dry all day, unpinned, flipped it over cable side down, repinned, and then steamed the shit out of it with the iron and a wet dish towel. It will now sit on the floor until it is bone dry and we will see if it still has this annoying curl. If it does, do you have any suggestions for me? What else can I do to get that to go away? I would hate for the boy to have to do that all the time. What an annoying gift. "Here you go, here's a scarf. You have to wash it and pin it to your floor and steam iron it two days before you wear it, every time you want to wear it." Not exactly the type of present I try to give to people.
Remember, tonight is my going away party. 10-ish at the Playwright. Hope to see you there!
As much as I would *love* to have a job dyeing and spinning wool... As much as I would love to live on a farm with a ton of sheep... This just doesn't sound like a good deal.

I've decided to take a little break from Ron and make the boy a scarf. I'm quite pleased with the way it's knitting up. It's going very quickly. I also didn't think the cable pattern would show up well in the Manos, but it's surprisingly nice. I do, however, need a name for it. I can't think of a good name. It's a cable scarf for a boy made of Manos del Uraguay. I was thinking of something like Manos del something, but I don't speak Spanish, so I I have no idea what to put there.

I have to finish Ron before Christmas day. That's the whole reason I was making this sweater, so I'll be really upset if I don't get it done. I think I'll be able to finish it before then, though. I quit Swatch a week before I move back to Florida, so I should have some down time while I'm procrastinating on my packing. Ooooo... that's going to be fun.
And... for those of you in the NY area, I'm having a going away party this Thursday. It was originally going to be a Swatch going away party, but I'm opening the doors to everyone I know in NY. It's at The Playwright on 49th Street, between Broadway and 8th. I have to work until 9:30, so I'll probably get there around 10-ish. Hope to see you there!
