Hot Lava!

redhair

What is it? It's a lovely shade of orange-y, fire-y red. Hot Lava is a great name for it, I think. It looks just like the Red-Orange Crayon. Hardly any of you got it. I guess having clues and pictures really helps. I also guess I'm a little more boring than you guys take me for. Who knew I would go back to the red? Only 11% of you chose red, 3 out of 28 entries. Interesting. Let's do the numbers.

Purple           8
Red               3
Orange         4
Green           7
Multi             2
Blonde           1
Maroon         1

I think the purple thing is really interesting. I don't own any purple... I just don't view myself as a purple kind of girl, but maybe you're telling me something. Perhaps I should try it out. I don't think I could swing the lavender that most of you wanted me to have, though; I'd probably look dead. I look much better in bright colors. Which would go along well with the bright, lime-y green the rest of you wanted to see. ;)

And now for the Fabulous Prizes!

Not many people chose red, so I almost feel like everyone who got it deserves a prize. I only have 2 prizes right now, so I'll need to come up with a third today. But here are the winners and the first two prizes.

Kathi was the first to guess correctly, so she gets the lovely Softy. I am so in love with this yarn. I keep buying it for other people, but never buy it for myself. I shall have to remedy this soon.

lavaprize1

Mariko was the second to guess red. Though both she and Kathi were guessing Christmas red, I figured I'd give it to them anyway. Mariko gets 2 skeins of discontinued Rowan Magpie Tweed. This is such a fun yarn and so impossible to find anymore.

lavaprize2

Silvia was the third and final person to guess red. No Fabulous Prize for her yet, but as soon as I find one, I'll let you know what it is.

Congratulations, ladies, on a job well done! Excellent guessing on everyone's part. Hope you're not too disappointed in my color choice!

It's That Time Again!!

Time again to play What the Hell Has She Done To Her Hair Now?!?! That's right, my little chickadees... Guess that haircolor for fabulous prizes! This time I'm making it a little harder for you. No clues, no pictures... You all guessed far too easily the last time we played. No more clues for you. The first two contestants to guess correctly win fabulous prizes. Those of you non-knitter readers, you probably don't want the prizes, but you're more than welcome to guess. And all you Muffincrumbs need to get your guess in before I see you today, no cheating. ;)

Email your guesses here. For Fabulous Prizes!

Nipper Cooks!

pumpkin soup

I just made Curried Pumpkin Soup from this recipe. Yum. It's a good recipe, but if you're interested in this soup, I would suggest a different one. I've made Curried Pumpkin Soup before and really enjoyed the last one I made, but couldn't find the old recipe. When I found this recipe, I was intrigued by the addition of apples for the sweetness. When actually making it, though, I was not as pleased with the apple flavor as I was with the pure pumpkin flavor. I think the apples give it a weird baby food texture instead of the plain creamy-ness of the last recipe. I even used fewer apples than the recipe called for; I can't imagine what it would be like if I added that 4th apple. Plus, I added more curry and cumin than what is called for, it was pretty bland with what's suggested. The soup is still good, just not amazingly yummy.

Knitting: Would you like to know how much knitting I've done on Ron's sleeves? 2 rows. In a week. I'm serious. How sad is that? What is it about being in a new relationship that makes you stop thinking or doing anything? I want to finish Ron before I leave to go back to Florida (December 21st). I'm not sure I can swing it though. If I was my usual self I would say, "3 weeks? 2 sleeves? Ha! Not a problem." As it is, I'm a little worried.
