OK, I have 2 color combinations for the Wavy Line Sweater. The pink is the main color, but I'm having a hard time deciding what should be the secondary color. Orange or green? I'm leaning more towards the green because having the orange next to the brown makes it almost too fall-ish. I think the green is bright enough to make it a fall or spring sweater. I think I've decided, but let me know what you think.
I have one more thing to get your help on too. I've gotten a lot of information on resumes, but one thing that is different everywhere I look is length. Is your resume 1 page or 2? I lean more towards the idea of 1 page, but everywhere I hear that it's OK to be 2. I'm so confused. Job hunting, yuck.
Mariko told me to go check out Beard Papa's creme puffs. Oh my God, they were good! They had regular and green tea flavored puffs so I had to try one of each. They had the puffs already made and squirted the creme into them when you order. I liked the regular one the best, but the green tea was yummy too. The shop was super cute. 32 thumbs up for Beard Papa's Sweets Shop. Anyone else have a restuarant or place for me to check out so you can live vicariously through me? I don't mind. ;)
I also hit Knit NY today. The shop was great and the people were really nice. I should try to get a job there. They have a cute little cafe so you can sit and drink while you knit. I was very bad and got yarn for my Vintage Knits sweater. They were very helpful with colors and helping me decide what yarn to choose. The yarn is Koigu, so I'm a little afraid about itchy-ness, but I think I can handle it.
I've got to get a job soon or stop leaving the house. I spend far too much money. I'm going to work on my resume this weekend and start serious job hunting next week. Scary.
I have a ton of pictures for you today. I hope you enjoy them!
First off, my friends' wedding went very well. Aren't they cute!? Poor Eric and Morgan were so stressed out in the days before the wedding that we were really worried about them, but as soon as it and the reception were over they were back to their old selves again. I had such a fun time in South Carolina running around helping them get stuff done. I also met a bunch of very fun people.
Now, I'm in New York and my computer is set up. We had an epiphany and decided to put my computer on the coffee table so I wasn't having to lay on the floor to use it. Now I have to decide if I need a real desk or not. I don't mind sitting on the floor and my posture might be improved if I kneel Asian-style all the time. I do need a wireless hub though, so Amy can have her bedroom back. At the moment, my computer is in her room and only one of us can be on the internet at once. For a pair of girls so addicted to Google, that is really difficult.
These are the stairs I have to go up and down everyday to get from the apartment to the train. I'm going to have some beastly legs by the time I go back home.
And now for what you actually come here for, the knitting content. The Washi Scarf is coming along very well. Having a 30-45 minute train ride to and from the city every day is great for knitting. I'm enjoying this lace pattern, mostly because it is difficult. I like having to pay attention to my project. It takes more time and I feel like I'm accomplishing something more than when I make stockinette stitch tank tops. Oh! And my R2 booklet come to the house in Tallahassee, the Boy is going to ship it off this weekend. Hopefully I will have it by next week. Yeay!
I'm in New York now! Yeay! I'm using Amy's computer because there are a ton of things I still have to do. One of the more important things is to get a power strip and a wireless hub for my computer so I can get it set up. I will have some pictures once I get it done. I met a bunch of really cool people while we were in South Carolina and we had a very fun (very stressful, but fun) trip. I need to start looking for a job, but I have to wait until I get my computer set up so I can update my resume and stuff. I don't immediately need a job, but I need to get one pretty soon. I want a fun job too. One that isn't super stressful, like a retail job or something. I realize "fun job" is a bit of an oxy moron, but maybe I can get lucky and work for a knitting shop or a store with interesting clothes or a chocolate store or something. That would rock.
I started making the Washi scarf. It's looking very pretty. This lace pattern is a bit more difficult than the other one I did. I'm realizing that lace is far more tedious than other forms of knitting (cables, etc.) You really have to pay attention to it. I enjoy it though. And it's a great thing to do now while I wait indefinitely for my R2 booklet. ;) I will have some pictures for you soon. I wore the Washi Tank to the wedding rehersal and dinner and got a ton of compliments on it. Everyone thought it was an expensive boutique-y top.
Wow. I feel like there needs to be something down here about Harry Potter, but I still haven't managed to get to see it yet. Maybe I will take some time and go see it this week or this weekend. Any one in the New York area is welcome to email me and we can hook up and go see it together. That would be awesome. Knitters for Harry Potter!
