Franken-Rogue

franken-rogue

This is the top of the hood where you attach the plain part of the hood to the hood border. I have tried attaching it twice already, but because there are so many more stitches on the plain hood part I'm having some serious issues with it. Maybe I should pin all my seams together, but for the most part I just fudge it. Fudging is not working with this seam, let me tell you. I've seen this suggested for sleeve seams before, let's see if pinning will help me get it right.

I used a three-needle bind-off for the hood seam. I think it would have looked better if I grafted the stitches together, but I just can't get a handle on that grafting thing. But I think it looks pretty darn good even using the three-needle bind off. I'm quite pleased with the way Boy Rogue is turning out.

So close to being done. I can't wait! Then I will restart Cardi Raye and then on to other things....

Other things will include a tank out of this yarn. Kat (Pinku) sent it to me from Japan. It is Washi (rice paper) yarn. I'm so excited about making something with this yarn. It is very weird and crunchy feeling, always exciting to make something with a new weird yarn. But don't worry, my shirt isn't going to melt if it gets wet, it is 50% washi and 50% rayon for strength. I'm also totally in love with the ball band. The only English on it is "Hight Quarity Fancy Knitting Yarn." Oh, so cool! Kat also sent me yummy Japanese candy. Whee. I managed to wait to open the packages until I could take a picture of it, I'm now snacking on the chocolate-strawberry Meiji candy. Excellent choice, Kat! By the way Kat, I have one of your balls of Fixation, the rest should be here soon I promise!

Rogue-hood

rogue hood

Ooooo... isn't it lovely? I am at the halfway point on the hood. 40 more rows, then sew up the top of it, sew sleeve seams and attach them. Then we can crank down the air conditioning, hand the Boy a FreezerPop and make with the model shots. Do you think I can get him to dance like Becky's kid and hubby do? ;) Sorry about the blurry photo, this sweater is really hard to photograph. If you use the flash, you can't see the cables at all. My deck is completely shaded, so if you don't use the flash the picture is all dark and blurry. :( We might have to make the Boy go outside in the sunlight for his model shots. Wouldn't that be torture!?!?

I'm very excited and a little disappointed. One of my favorite authors, David Sedaris is releasing a new book in June (YEAY!) and is doing a book tour in June. That would be super cool... IF... he wasn't going to be in New York directly before I get there, then goes everywhere else in the country. Oh well, maybe I can hit one of the dates in his Fall tour. That would be super cool. (Information about David Sedaris via copacetic)
