I love living in Florida. It's still a little chilly and will be for another couple weeks, but spring is on it's way. This is probably my favorite part of the year. We get flowers and new growth, but it is still chilly (so I can wear my sweaters) and its there isn't much pollen yet. Also, these camillias are my favorite flowers ever. They always bloom in Febuary and March, the part of the year when you are just about to go nuts from the dull, rainy winter. Yesterday during a break between classes, I spent a good 30 minutes taking pictures of the camillias around campus. They are difficult to get a good picture of. The bushes are very tall and the blossoms I can reach are often in the shade. Either that or there are branches in front of a good shot. Here are the best of the photos I took yesterday. A little bit of spring for those of you locked in cold weather. :) One, Two, and Three. Hope you enjoy them. :)
I have a Japanese test today. I should be doing some last minute studying. What am I doing instead? Blogging. This is so dangerous.
I really like Phildar patterns. They always have the most interesting sweaters and their yarn isn't nearly as expensive as, say, Rowan. I found these magazines on Ebay and had to get them. They took an oddly long time to get here, so I was very excited to see them in the mail. One was printed with English instructions, the other came with an English insert, so I can actually read everything. I think when I find some time, I'm going to try to figure out the French instructions. That way I can get more Phildar books without having to find translations.
I have fallen in love with the sweater that is pictured on the cover of the Automne Mode 2001. I don't know how well you can see it in the picture, but that roll turtleneck collar is killer! The only problem... I have to find the yarn now. Grr. There are some yarn shops in Canada that have Phildar yarn, but they don't have all the yarn that is mentioned in the sweater. Many of the sweaters in this book call for a yarn Ondiaflamme, and I can't find it anywhere on the net. I hope it hasn't been discontinued.
What am I talking about!?! I have 2 Rogues to start soon and they're going to take me months to do. I must have willpower! I must not buy more yarn (well... not *a lot* more yarn anyway.) I have no illusions that I will give up buying yarn at all for the next couple months while working on the Rogues, but I can try to be good. ...right?
Tonight is Knit Night and I will be going up to Borders to Knit in Public. I love Knit Night. I wish it came more often than once a month though. :)
