Rogue Along With... Tons of People

I can't believe the huge amount of people doing this knit-along. Amber said there were 68 Rogue Along-ers last night, but the Yahoo group has 78 members. Crazy. I wonder if more will join up, maybe we can hit 100 knitters. It's an amazing sweater, I'm not surprized at all that there are so many knitters. I first saw it from Mariko's site and fell in love. So, I'm now going to be making two Rogues. One for the boy and one for myself. It's slightly disgusting, he picked the color I was going to pick and then I couldn't come up with another really good color. The result? Matching Rogues. Its a beautiful color. I think it fits the mood and style of Rogue very well. It is the 2-ply mule spun wool from Custom Woolen Mills. Many people on the Rogue Yahoo group were raving about this yarn, so I'm hoping it turns out ok. It does have one plus so far and that is the price. I purchased yarn for both sweaters for under 60 canadian dollars. Amazing that I could get yarn for 2 sweaters out of less than $50. I'm really excited.

This just means I need to hurry up and finish the Cardi Raye soon. I have the back done and a little bit of the front right side. Can I finish it (and keep my grades up) before Febuary 15th? We shall see...

Phildar Turtleneck

turtle2.JPG

I really liked the way this turtleneck turned out. I finished it last Thursday in time to go see a concert that night. The concert was fun and I got lots of compliments on my sweater. Enter the Haggis is a bag pipe rock band, so there were plenty of odd kids who would appreciate a funny muppet-y handknit sweater.

Becky translated the pattern for me, but really spoiled me by shipping the yarn from France as well. She is such an enabler! She may have started a very bad precedent for my stash by doing that! The yarn is Sport Laine and is very nice. It's soft, warm, and wooly, but with just enough acrylic to keep it from being scratchy. I saw some on Ebay just recently and was sorely tempted to buy some more to make a solid colored turtle. But I resisted; I'm trying to be good and knit from my stash. That will soon end, as I am knitting Rogue for my boyfriend. Still searching for a good yarn to do it in that won't break the bank. It's a difficult search.

First Entry - OMG!

After having this blog up for almost four months now, I have finally gotten around to posting. Aren't I lazy? Well, I say I'm lazy, but I still manage to get an inordinate amount of knitting done. Too bad I don't have the motivation to do anything else as much as I knit.

I want to thank Becky for hosting me, designing the site and generally being a great friend. I haven't known you for very long, lady, but you are wonderful! I was quite taken with the way the site turned out. I gave her a very basic design idea and she fixed it up nicely.

I'm taking pictures of some knitting that I have been working on later today. I just wanted to get a first post done, just so I would have something up to show that I am alive. Sometimes I wonder myself...
